Boston Local Events Grant Scheme
This fund is available to support new and existing events that bring people together and build community spirit in the Boston Big Local area.
Boston Big Local has commissioned Lincolnshire Community and Voluntary Service (LCVS) to administer the Local Events Grants Scheme between April 2017 and March 2019, which is designed to enable events that draw people together and take place in central Boston.
Funding of up to £1,500 for small events and £4,500 for large events is available to support activities in the Boston Big Local area. Up to eight events can be supported.
A panel will meet three times each year to consider applications for funding. The panel’s responsibility will be to make sure funding is awarded to events that will best benefit the local community – whether it be a new event or something with proven success that needs an extra boost.
LCVS will also work with groups to support them to ensure they have the right infrastructure in place to successfully deliver an event. LCVS can provide advice and information on governance, volunteering support, support with policies and procedures, identifying and meeting training needs and becoming fit to fundraise. Being fit to fundraise includes having bank accounts and insurance in place and being aware of obligations such as those related to health and safety.
Richard Tory, Boston Big Local chairman, said: “One of Boston Big Local’s main priorities is building community spirit and we feel supporting these events can help with bringing people together and instilling pride in the town as well as attracting tourists and promoting all that Boston has to offer.”
