Lincolnshire Community and Voluntary Service
Building a Stronger Britain Let’s Talk (About Hate)
The Building Stronger Britain Let’s Talk (About Hate) project offers training packages centered around identifying and tackling Far Right Extremism.
Lincolnshire Community and Voluntary Service has secured funding from the Home Office to deliver the training, which is aimed at community groups, school and college staff and students in year nine and above across Boston, East Lindsey and South Holland district areas.
It also offers Train the Trainer workshops to enable Community and Group leaders to deliver the package to their own Communities at their own pace.
LCVS is working in partnership with Lincolnshire County Council and Lincolnshire Stay Safe Partnership on the project, which involves an hour-long presentation on the objectives of Let’s Talk (About Hate).
Let’s Talk (About Hate) objectives include…
the importance of identity and belonging
extremist hate narrative
how propaganda and social media feed hate
- extremist hate recruiters and their methods.
The programme is designed to encourage and empower communities and young people to explore their own identity and belonging as a way of building resilience against far right extreme views.
It also focuses on highlighting attitudes and beliefs that oppose British shared values and create a distorted sense of belonging within Lincolnshire’s communities.
The presentation provides a safe space to identify and explore prejudices and counter local grievances with the aim of increasing awareness of the issues around far right extremism and radicalisation.
It is designed to help people recognise vulnerabilities in others and provide a better understanding of the issues so that they can reject extremist narratives and give them the confidence to identify, challenge and report extremism in an appropriate way.
The Building Stronger Britain Let’s Talk (About Hate) training package has been designed by Home Office approved intervention providers, Me and You Education (https://meandyoueducation.co.uk/our-training) and is provided by LCVS free of charge.
