All are invited to go along to a free event introducing the carnival traditions of Pancake Day to Boston.

The Pancakes Day Together event is set to include games, dances and songs, a performance from Lithuanian folklore group Saduto, a mask making workshop and facepainting, pancakes and pastries.

The event – 1.30pm to 3.30pm, on Saturday, February 13, in Market Place, Boston – has been organised by Boston Lithuanian Community.

Boston Lithuanian Community is inviting people to wear fancy dress to join the celebrations. Its poster says traditional Shrovetide costumes include witches, devils, doctors, goats and horses!

The event is funded with a £1,500 Boston Big Local Community Events Grant.

The Boston Big Local Community Events Grant scheme is designed to enable events that draw people together in the Boston Big Local area – a central area of the town. Lincolnshire Community and Voluntary Service (LCVS) is administering the scheme.

The fund has £9,000 available in the financial year beginning in April (2016) to support one large event and three smaller events in the Boston Big Local area.
