Do you have a passion for the environment, the outdoors or your local community? The Boston RiverCare group is inviting volunteers along to their next river clean on Saturday 14th August meeting at The Rowing Club in Carlton Road, Boston, PE21 8LL.

Formed and run by volunteers with support from Lincolnshire Community and Voluntary Service and Boston Big Local, this group tackles litter pollution which would otherwise persist in the environment, damaging wildlife and perhaps eventually ending up in the ocean. By looking after this stretch of river in Boston they can prevent this plastic pollution from having a negative impact on river and marine wildlife and helping to create a cleaner river for the local community to enjoy.

The RiverCare team are now calling on locals to join in and help protect their environment. The Boston group will be pulling on their boots and getting stuck in on Saturday 14th August to remove litter from River Witham and the riverbanks between the Rowing Club and the Town Centre.  If volunteers are interested in helping, please meet at Boston Rowing Club, Carlton Road, Boston, PE21 8LL on Saturday 14th August at 10.00 am. Members of the Boston Rowing Club will be on the water from 8.00 am so if you are a boat owner and would like to help the team on the river, please contact Jackie Lane, email:

The RiverCare and BeachCare programme is delivered by Keep Britain Tidy in partnership with Anglian Water and with the aim of supporting local community groups who want to protect and enhance their local waterways and beaches. Across the whole Anglian Water region there are over 1,000 regular RiverCare and BeachCare volunteers.Jackie Lane, from the Boston RiverCare group, said: “We are working with Boston Big Local to help improve our environment and the launch of the Boston RiverCare group is an exciting part of this initiative. We hope people will come along on 14th August and get involved – all equipment is provided, and we promise a warm welcome”.
