HWLincs’ suicide prevention programme ‘A Better Way’ has teamed up with MensCraft – the mental health and wellbeing charity for men and boys – to host a series of free mental health webinars for men.
It is hoped that the new webinars will serve as a potentially life-saving support to men living in Lincolnshire and offer up yet another excellent resource, from A Better Way, for men who are facing mental health challenges or who wish to learn how to support a loved one.
Three webinars, covering varied and useful wellbeing topics, will be available via Zoom and will be delivered in short, sharp sessions, in a supportive, informal and at times humorous way, to help take the stigma out of talking about mental health.
Ed Roberts from MensCraft will host with insightful techniques and ideas for improving mental health and sharing experiences into overcoming the fear of opening and discovering how fitness and mindfulness can be of help.
The HWLincs team worked closely with a group of men in Lincolnshire to understand perceptions, challenges and symptoms of mental health and the greater need for support for individuals and for loved ones. They then collated the key insights to enable them to shape the content of these webinars in a way which will prove invaluable to so many.
The A Better Way and Menscraft mental health webinars are:
- Why we need to talk more… Let’s get talking – 14th October at 11.00am
- What on earth is mindfulness? – 21st October at 4.30pm
- Fitness for mental health – 4th November at 11.00am
HWLincs Contract and Project Officer Tom Cassidy said: “Learning more about mental health has immediate benefits. Having more tools to hand for maintaining your mental health is a major benefit to everyone, no matter what your situation. Ed, who will be leading the webinars, is an expert in his field and spends his days helping men in all kinds of situations. He’s engaging, friendly, open and when it comes to these improving men’s mental health workshops, he’s the best man for the job.”
