Everyone is invited to take part in an event which celebrates the unique landscape of the Lincolnshire Wolds.
To kick start Landscape for Life week, hearts are being formed across the country in the nation’s most loved landscapes on Saturday 21st September at 2pm.
For the first time ever, people in all Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) across the UK are collectively forming hearts to show how much they love their own special landscapes.
Join the Lincolnshire Wolds AONB on the 21st at Welton le Wold disused quarry to celebrate all things Lincolnshire Wolds, why it was chosen as one the nation’s protected landscapes and be Part of the Heart in
the Lincolnshire Wolds.
The event is FREE; just bring your family and friends for all or part of the day. If you can’t attend the event but want to pledge your support then you can send an image of you making your own heart in the landscape via e-mail email@example.com or twitter @LincsWoldsAONB – remember to tag them in so they can retweet it!
The timetable for the event includes:
10.00am – join Steve Jack, Lincolnshire Wolds AONB Manager, on a 6 mile/3 hour guided walk, exploring the landscape of glacial valleys, wooded vales, chalk streams and open arable viewpoints via public rights of way and permissive paths – a great way to showcase the benefits of the Lincolnshire Wolds #naturalhealthservice
12.00– join Lincolnshire Wolds AONB Staff on a ½ mile/1 hour geological tour of discovery on this nationally important site – explaining when and how the different ice advances created the protected landscape that was once home to elephants!
12.00 – why not spend some time crafting your own heart – the Lincolnshire Wildlife Trust will help you create a reminder of the day and what an amazing place the Lincolnshire Wolds is!
Don’t want to walk? Go along at lunch time for refreshments – bring a picnic, or even better, enjoy one of Nice & Toastie’s homemade freshly toasted sandwiches and a cuppa!
2.00pm – the Main Event – Everyone will join together to create a heart in the landscape – just one of many events happening across the AONB family to show how much we all care for our special landscapes. It’s your chance to star in drone footage and a film complied by Green Traveller to be shared with national broadcast media.
3.00pm – finish – safe travels home!
