Lincolnshire Community & Voluntary Service is seeking a Chair of the Board of Trustees to steer the organisation forward from March 2021 following the retirement of the current Chair.

Volunteering, community development and social prescribing are what we do, which means LCVS is a key partner in some of the most important transformational programmes of work in Lincolnshire.  We change lives, help build confident communities and support some of the most vulnerable people in the county and also some of the most inspiring.  We are in a period of extreme challenge and great opportunity.

The role of the Chair is critical to our future success.  They will have a solid foundation of working in partnership with other voluntary and community sector organisations, big and small, in collaboration with local government, health and social care, academic and business partners.  They will have the energy and skills to take the organisation forward in an enlightened way, providing leadership to the Board and working effectively with the CEO.

The Chair will ensure that the trustees fulfil their legal, financial and governance obligations and responsibilities as charity trustees and company directors.  Our board has a wealth of wisdom and part of the chair’s job is to try and harness that wisdom to improve the plans and activities of the organisation, to be scrutineer in chief as well as meeting maestro, making sure that meetings are well-managed, productive and move the organisation’s work forward.

We’re looking for someone with experience and knowledge of the voluntary and community sector, with excellent leadership and communication skills, who is well connected, respected and has a strategic understanding of the external environment in which LCVS works.

Lincolnshire CVS is a registered charity and company limited by guarantee.  It’s main office is in Boston.  It employs a diverse workforce of over 30 brilliant staff.  Turnover this year will be just under £1m.  The Board meets formally five times a year including AGM.  The Chair’s role is unpaid.  Reasonable expenses will be paid.

If you are interested please email David Fannin, CEO at setting out why and what special qualities you will bring to the role.  Please note, there is no formal application form to complete, CVs will be accepted.

Deadline is Monday 1st February.  A panel of trustees will meet by Zoom on 10th February to interview short-listed candidates.  The successful applicant will be co-opted onto the board with immediate effect and confirmed at our AGM on 10th March 2021.
