 Local Charity in line for
National Award

Wednesday 8th March 2023

Local charity, Lincolnshire Community and Voluntary Service (LCVS) is a finalist in the National Association of Link Worker 2023 Awards in the category of Employer of the Year.

LCVS is the largest provider of social prescribing link workers in Lincolnshire.  Social prescribing helps people improve their health, confidence, self-esteem and wellbeing, often at critical points in their lives when medical solutions are not necessarily the only solutions.  LCVS’s team of dedicated social prescribing link workers takes referrals from GPs, mental health services, health professionals and many other caring organisations and works with them to get the best personal outcome for the participant.  The results are often life changing.

The National Association of Link Worker Awards are part of the prestigious annual Healthcare Show that will take place on April 27th at the ExCeL arena in London.

Being short-listed for Employer of the Year recognises how effectively the team of 30 Social Prescribing Link Workers has formed into a strong community of practice working with 56 GP Practice teams across 10 of the 15 Primary Care Networks in Lincolnshire.  This experienced and knowledgeable team is embedded in the community, working alongside Community Development and Volunteering colleagues and adult social care, mental health services, JobCentres and many more key services.

The Awards panel was impressed by the quality of management and leadership, the ethos that supports SPLW wellbeing and encourages learning, development and career progression, and the role that LCVS plays in developing countywide integrated approach.

David Fannin, LCVS Chief Executive said “Our staff are amazing, we put in a lot of hard work to support their dedication and reaching the final of the NALW Awards is recognition of this.  We make sure that our people are not only enabled to do their jobs well but also that they are looked after and feel valued and supported in what can be an emotionally demanding job”.  He went on to say, “The team at LCVS, our co-workers at Voluntary Centre Services and partners in the Integrated Care System can all be proud of this achievement because we have achieved this together.”

The social prescribing service across Lincolnshire supports thousands of people by linking them to community groups, organisations and services to build networks of support, improve their health and wellbeing, reduce loneliness, social isolation and raise self-esteem and confidence.

The winners of the National Association of Link Workers Awards will be revealed as part of the prestigious annual Healthcare Show at the ExCeL Arena, London.  The awards ceremony will take place on Thursday 27th April 2023. “
